Cosmetic dentistry 'helps create perfect man'

Cosmetic dentistry 'helps create perfect man'Men are having cosmetic dental treatments as part of their quest for perfection, it has been reported.

Illinois newspaper the Northwest Herald stated that alongside numerous cosmetic surgery procedures and minimally-invasive treatments, tooth bonding, porcelain veneers and whitening techniques can all assist in creating the perfect man.

Teeth whitening reportedly costs between $350 (£180) and $600 at a dentist's office or around $40 for an over-the-counter product.

Carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide helps dissolve the buildup which occurs naturally on teeth, the publication explained.

Dr Todd Powell of Barrington Cosmetic and General Dentistry said that tooth bonding repairs decayed or chipped molars and can slightly alter its shape.

"It's very much like an artist working with clay," he commented.

For enamel which is unattractive or damaged in some way, porcelain veneers are a useful option, he continued, adding: "That's done purely for cosmetic purposes to improve the way the tooth looks."

Research by the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry revealed that 27 per cent of people think that cosmetic dental treatments will improve their quality of life.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18460296-ADNFCR
